Just waiting

The countryside seems to be full of opposites at the moment.

There is a starkness on the skyline as the trees are silhouetted against the sky, yet often that sky is a mixed up indeterminate gray.

The world above the ground looks dormant yet underneath there is a sense of life growing momentum.

Someone I read recently spoke of a sense of invisible forces animating the landscape.

And all of it waiting until that moment when new growth will break above the earth.

It 's quite a good picture of what is going on in our lives right now, the contrast between being lockdown and restricted, yet everywhere lives going behind our doors. Waiting until the day we can emerge from this time.

I find it hopeful , this sense that God is at work and although we can only see the landscape sleeping, so much is actually happening that we just can't see.

"For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him." Colossians 1 vs 16
