True colours

It is impossible to walk in the fields just now and not think about colour, the season is changing and the berries are just amazing. Autumn is beginning to show its true colours. yet that phrase is often used in a negative way, "he or she is now showing their true colours" we say as someone does something we disagree with which. That seems a shame to me as surely we each need to bring our true colours into our lives.

Sadly I think we often hide our colours, the times when we don't feel confident enough to be ourselves, the times when we think everyone will disagree with our viewpoint, then we hide and our colour fades a little. Yet we are who we are and each colour brings its own brightness  and contributes to the beauty of our world.

I was reading about the visit by the Queen of Sheba to Solomon's temple, and what a description of colour it is, I would love to go back for a moment in time and see what it really looked like. Yet  Jesus reminds us that the flowers in the fields are every bit as beautiful as King Solomon's robes and on a morning like this morning, with the blackberries and hawthorn and sloes, I have to agree.

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."Ephesians 2 vs 10
