Hold your nerve

Its exam time, and school takes on that feeling of nerves,  it really is happening, this long talked about thing that we started looking at (two )years ago now in our linear exams, is on our doorstep and its scary.

and that is just teachers...

But if its worth remembering anything, it is for pupils to hold their nerve ( as a good friend reminds me occasionally) they have worked, they have listened and grown and matured and they may not believe it, because we always think we will forget everything as soon as we walk in the room, but it is in there, it is in us and we have within us the resources.

Not a bad message for Christians, hold your nerve, we have within us  what we need to get through, even though it can seem a bit scary.
This morning's reading from Deuteronomy reminds those about to settle in the promised land that they don't need to look for omens ( in our pupils case , stick good luck charms on their desks), God is with them and he will send them a prophet from their own people, he has gone ahead and he will take us through it  - we just need to rest in that  follow him and hold our nerve.

'The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so.15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.' Deuteronomy 18 vs 14-15
