Last night's Broadchurch

I found last night's episode of Broadchurch very moving, it was such a sad  portrayal of a Father unable to cope with the loss of his son and discovering that revenge didn't help, information didn't help in fact that nothing could take the pain away.

For there are times we would all recognise when we face pain and there is no running from it, nothing will make it easier, or take it away, it simply has to be faced and borne.

It is surely the story of Good Friday, of Christ on a cross in unimaginable pain, betrayed by those he loved, alone and abandoned. Yet surely the message of the cross is that no matter how much we despair, or however dark the place in which we find ourselves , Christ has been there before us, he knows and he weeps with us. And there is nowhere from which, if we let him and commit our selves into his hands , God cannot meet us and bring us home.

"Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit!" And having said this he breathed his last. " Luke 23 vs 46
