Preparing ourselves

We are often at the very bottom of the list at this time of year aren’t we?
We prepare the tree, the meal, the presents, the nativity costume or the
house but not ourselves and then we wonder why we are tired and fed up.
So what about having a bit of self preparation. What about taking time out?

It is OK to do nothing, in fact its important to love ourselves, and be kind to
ourselves. To do the things we enjoy just because we enjoy them - a wise
person once said “ Do what you love and God will be there.”

It isn't easy to stop, to leave some things undone, to allow a little chaos into
our lives but sometimes it is what we most need.
So maybe at this time of year, busy though it is we need to allow ourselves
time out, to deliberately prepare ourselves, recharge our batteries, turn away
from the to do list and put time in the diary just for us.
We are much loved and Christmas is about remembering just how much.

“Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, love divine;
Love was born at Christmas,

Star and angels gave the sign.” Christina Rossetti
