100 Madeira Cakes

A couple of weeks ago I was  rushed for time and in a short window over lunch  tried to do a very quick online grocery shop. At a push the weekly shop can be done in ten minutes by simple pressing favourites or last order, changing a few things and pressing send. It may not be well thought through, and results in eating exactly the same meals each week, but it is efficient.

I did wonder however why the price appeared to have gone up by £100. So checking over the order to see how I had managed to increase the household budget by so much, I noticed I had by accident ordered 99 Madeira cakes, which incidentally, is the top limit you can order for Madeira cakes - should you ever need to know.

Thank goodness I checked because there are only so many Summer Berry trifles we can eat.

There are no miracles here, only clever technology - we have enough to eat, far too much choice and it can all be done in a few minutes. I wonder how grateful we really are?

"Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he (Jesus) gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.  They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children."

"They ate and were satisfied"  Do we still appreciate what God gives us?
