So today we took the tree down, put the decorations back in the box and hoovered the carpet although I will still be finding pine needles for the next 12 months. It felt sad to do because it marks the end of something. This week many of us start back at work and its head down until the next holiday.
I can feel the panic starting.
But it doesn't have to be the end of anything ( well maybe mince pies but no one really minds that).
There are still 24 hours in a day, and seven days in a week, Christ is with us - Immanuel, and out there in the garden everything is starting again. How we use the time is up to us but maybe some of the things we thought about, some of the resolutions made, can be carried on.
To do less and 'be' more, to take time with family and less with work, to worry less and trust more , maybe just maybe these things, the things which really matter, we can take into the coming weeks .
"The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" (which means "God with us")
Matthew 1 vs 23
