Seedheads and Autumn

At the moment Harvest is on my mind and particularly how much God provides for us, our apple trees and pear trees are laden and the freezer has a good supply of blackberries from the hedgerows and  I can honestly say I have done nothing to make this happen.

And flowers too. I have enjoyed the flowers in the garden over Spring and Summer and worked hard to make them look good  but there is something really  beautiful about the simplicity of the seed heads that line our paths no thanks to me.

In Deuteronomy, Sunday's reading reassures us of God's generosity to us and reminds not to think it is something we do by our own power.  In these insecure times there is something wonderfully familiar in the changing of the seasons, that whatever else is weird in our lives, we can count on Autumn coming and  bringing  with it these wonderful  gifts from a generous God.

"When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. " Deuteronomy 8 vs 10
