"Adrift for 49 days, teenager survived on tuna, seawater and Bible readings"

There is a story in this weekend's paper about the teenager in Indonesia who was at sea for 49 days after his wooden hut was set adrift by the force of the waves. His account of the experience sits with the headline
"Adrift for 49 days, teenager survived on tuna, seawater and Bible readings" in particular he mentions the opening of the Lord's prayer as sticking in his mind.

"Our Father in heaven , hallowed be your name " Matthew 6 vs 9

I was thinking about that verse in particular and how it sustained him, is it the sense of a cry to a father, someone who keeps us safe, who holds us, who is bigger than us, who, when we cannot control what is happening, makes us feel secure? I had another conversation this morning about boats in a different context, St Cedd, St Columba who set sail in small boats on the sea not knowing where they would be carried, but having enough faith to allow themselves to let it be and accept that they were in God's hands.

It's Monday, the whole week ahead, have we got it planned to the last minute, is it already going in a different direction, or are we at sea? I shall stop and think about this teenager and how I might learn to survive on food, water, and God's provision.

"Our Father in heaven , hallowed be your name " Matthew 6 vs 9
