Bird feeders and pecking orders

During the recent snow and ice  we worked hard at filling the bird feeder to make sure there was enough available. But it hasn't gone quite to plan. The little sparrows and robins which flit around the garden can't get near the food for two wood pigeons which seem to have moved in and occupy the table.
Further complications arise when said pigeons shuffle about knocking food off the table onto he deck where our dog is happy to receive. So it would seem that the ones most in need are the ones who can't access the food.

Sounds familiar...

What we really need is the  large wood pigeon to step aside, put its own needs last and invite the smaller birds in ......

" If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?  Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."
1 John 3 vs 17-18
