Family or group?

We have been booking some travel insurance for the holidays and have made the ultimate in heartbreaking discoveries. We are no longer a family , but because we have a 19 year old daughter , have become a group. It is an arrow to the heart of a mother....

I could get really schmaltzy here and look at what makes a family but really I think we know

-a group will travel together but would they tolerate excessive luggage from at least one member?
-a group will be prepared to compromise for the sake of harmony, but would they really give up a visit to the tea plantation because frankly nobody else cares about tea Mum!
-a group may start the holiday with some interesting small talk but when the chips are down will they be the ones to help with the tummy ache or rub aloe vera on the sore bits?

Family is unique, and sees each other through the ups and downs , God's family is wider and more diverse and even more unique but it too has  its fair share of ups and downs. In my experience being part of God's family has been such a blessing.

So it's good to be part of  family- group doesn't even come close.

"Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”  So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir."
Galatians 4 vs 6-7
